Is the refrigerator plugged in? This may seem like it is a odd question, but we have been hired for appointments that this was the reason for the issue. Somehow, it was not plugged in. it’s possible a child or pet did it, or an electrician during a service visit. Whatever the cause might be, make sure it’s plugged in.
Look at the thermostat inside of the refrigerator. This is a very typical problem for families with children in their home. After all, children like dials and buttons and so, without knowing they’re doing something wrong, they mess with them. So, be sure that the thermostat setting isn’t the cause of the warm fridge.
Be sure the vents inside the freezer area aren’t blocked with boxes or food. This is very common since sometimes bags of frozen vegetables get pushed in the back. There might be food in the very back of a freezer unit that has been forgotten.
Check that the condenser cooling fan is clean and clear of debris. To be sure, unplug the refrigerator and slide it out from the kitchen wall. The cooling fan for a lot of models is just at the bottom of the appliance or somewhere in the back of the freezer portion. Many times, homeowner do not think about cleaning this area of the refrigerator. But, it is very important to clean it. And, it piles up with dust and fuzz quickly, especially with homes that have cats and dogs. So, find a clean rag and clean the collected dust out of the refrigerator coils and fan.
This is not suggested for refrigerators that have the rear coil system. Once everything is clean, plug it back into the wall and notice if the fan spins.
There are several reasons for a refrigerator not cooling after these more common ones to start to check if your freezer is cool but the fridge isn’t. The evaporator coils are frosted over. This happens when there’s a malfunction in the defrost heating system. Or when the automatic defrost experiences an issue. The evaporator fan motor can be another cause.
Every fridge has a set of evaporator coils. These coils are what cool and the fan moves the cold air throughout the appliance. The damper control assembly working the right way. The temperature control board that carries the electricity to the fan and compressor, this isn’t likely the issue but it’s worth mentioning.
And, the thermistor could be malfunctioning, which is a tiny sensor within the appliance that displays the temperature. Having one of our repairmen look at it is the best solution but these are some of the most typical issues.
